If your pet is hesitant, begin with the lid open (or training mode, if available), then gradually transition to normal operation. Let them take a few stress-free bites so they associate the feeder with food rather than movement.
Test by having the enrolled pet approach first (lid should open), then a non-enrolled pet (lid should stay closed). Adjust placement if the feeder is shifting or if the lid bumps a wall.

Remove the bowl and any removable inserts, then wash them with warm, soapy water and dry completely. Wipe the main unit with a slightly damp cloth only, avoiding water near the electronics and battery compartment.
